Sponsored by the Colorado School Counselor Association (CSCA), the CSCA Induction Course is designed to meet the requirements to become a School Counselor in Colorado for individuals who currently are licensed as an LPC or LCSW in Colorado. The CSCA Induction Course focuses on the tenants and skills necessary for the school counseling profession. The Induction Course is designed to follow the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model (4th Edition). The goal of the CSCA Induction Course is to ensure each Induction candidate is prepared to pass the Praxis and fulfill the role of school counselor in the state of Colorado.CSCA Online Registration
The CSCA Induction Course requires inductees to hold a valid Colorado license – LPC or LCSW for a minimum of 3 years. LCSW. Each induction candidate must enroll in the CSCA Induction Course for one full year. The course year will begin in September and end in May. Induction candidates will complete 48 contact hours from CSCA and receive 3 graduate inservice credits from Adams State University that can be presented to CDE for provisional licensure as a School Counselor. All other licensure requirements must be met as well.
- Enroll in the Adams State Induction course
- Seek out or have appointed a mentor from your school district
- Complete all coursework as assigned
- The 2020-2021 course will run from August 24, 2020 to May 11, 2021
The last day to register for the course will be September 11, 2020
Note: This induction course reflects requirements of Colorado statute (C.R.S. 22-60.5-204) and Colorado State Board of Education rules (1 CCR 301-37 8.01-02).
