Federal Perkins Loan

A Federal Perkins Loan is a low-interest (5%) loan. Both undergraduates and graduates with exceptional need can receive a Federal Perkins Loan. The loan is made with government funds with a share contributed by Adams State University.

You must pay back this loan to Adams State University.

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) in order for Adams State University to determine your eligibility for the Perkins Loan. If the loan is awarded, you will also have to complete a Perkins Promissory Note and Questionnaire.

Unlike the Federal Stafford Loan, the Perkins Loan does not charge processing fees. However, if you are late on a payment, skip a payment, or make less than the full payment required, you could be charged a late charge. If you continue to fail to make payments, you may have to pay collection costs.
