Student Health Insurance
To study at Adams State University, international students are required to have medical insurance for the duration of their stay. ASU requires the following:
- A minimum $100,000 or greater medical benefit for each accident or illness
- A deductible that does not exceed the amount of $500 per individual, per policy year
- At least $25,000 for repatriation (removal of remains after death)
- At least $50,000 for medical evacuation to your home country
Students are responsible for medical expenses they incur. International
students are required to have insurance to meet their medical needs as
mentioned above and show evidence of this insurance to the international student officer. Students will be required to complete a Health Insurance Verification Form and provide a copy of their insurance card. Adams State University does not have medical facilities on campus. However, the hospital and medical clinics are adjacent to campus.
There are many international student medical insurance providers. Here is one located in Alamosa:
CIA-Leavitt Insurance Agency
If you already have insurance, for example many students from Canada carry Canadian insurance, please provide proof and please make sure that the insurance meets ASU insurance requirements as mentioned above.
