ASC spring jazz concert is April 8

The Adams State College Jazz Concert will feature a variety of music and performances at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in Richardson Hall Auditorium.

The concert will include the ASC Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Combo, directed by James Doyle performing music by Duke Ellington, Tito Puente, Miles Davis, and Adams State music student, Antonio Lopez. The jazz a cappella group, 68 West, directed by Beth Wagstrom, will sing works of Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Randy Newman and Ben Moody.

Special guests, the Alamosa Salseros, directed by Oneyda Maestas, will dance a street style salsa, where each couple creates their own choreography/interpretation of the music being played. Some group choreography will also be incorporated as well. "Each couple has their own style/flavor of dancing that is unique," Maestas said.

The event is free to AS&F and Friends of Music, $5 adults and $1 for students. For more information call the Adams State College Music Department at 719-587-7621.
