Talent show and bike tour of Alamosa Ranch kick-off ASC EARTH Week


Music, short films, dancing, juggling, all types of performers are welcome to sign-up for the EARTH Week Talent/Variety Show. The event starts at 7 p.m. Monday, April 13 in Carson Auditorium, located in the Student Union Building. Prizes will be awarded to the first three places. First place participants win a free Adams State Adventure Program trip in the fall 2009.

Inclusion of the Environmental Action for Resources, Transportation and Health (EARTH) theme is a judging category. Judges include Ceal Smith, director and science advisor for the Citizens for San Luis Valley Water Protection Coalition; Christine Canaly, director SLV Ecosystem Council; and Dr. Frank Novotny, associate provost for Adams State.

Join tour leader David Montgomery at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, for a "Fat Tire Bike Tour" of the Alamosa Ranch. Participants will meet at Cole Park in front of the old train depot, currently the Alamosa Chamber of Commerce.

The event is sponsored by the Adams State College Environmental Action for Resources, Transportation and Health (EARTH) group and Citizens for the Alamosa Ranch (CFAR). The tour is open to any member of the community. Mountain bikes or commuter bikes are recommended. Please ride safely, wear a helmet.
