Choir performs at Sacred Heart Church Friday

The Adams State Concert and Chamber Choirs will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 in Sacred Heart Church. This concert is part of the Top of the Nation Honor Band and Choir Festival that brings in over 300 high school students from around the state.

The Adams State Choirs will be performing madrigals, spirituals, and South African pieces, as well as a beautiful setting of e. e. cumming's i carry your heart with me, a Requiem written to honor the lives of those lost in the 2004 Asian tsunami, and an excerpt from Ola Gjeilo's Sunrise Mass.

The honor choir will join the choir at the end to sing a piece for two choirs by Vockmar Leisring.

The Top of the Nation Honor Choir concert starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Sacred Heart Church.

The Mixed Choir will be conducted by Dr. Greg Ramsdell from Heidelberg University, and Dr. Beth Robison, Adams State assistant professor of music, will be conducting the Women's Choir.

Both this concert and the ASC choir concert are free to the public.
