ASU Foundation hosts Evening with Our Stars

Music, wine, dance, and song - the Adams State University Foundation "Evening with Our Stars" event will fundraise money for student scholarships. The gala affair begins at 5 p.m. with an open bar cocktail hour followed at 6 p.m. with dinner, performances, and a live auction, on Saturday, March 2, at the Inn of the Rio Grande.

Foundation Board Member Dale Hettinger '64 suggested the auction include a service component. He said it would be a "good way" for the board members to become more involved in raising money and for the community to get to know the Foundation Board members. Some of the services offered will include Hettinger painting a room in a house; Keith Cerny, board member, will photograph a special event; and Tammy Lopez, executive director of the Foundation, and Lori Laske, Alumni Relations director, will provide five nights of dinner for four.

According to Duane Bussey '82, president of the Adams State University Foundation Board of Directors, along with raising money for scholarships, the event showcases talented community and university students. The Mountain Valley Dance Studio, 68 West (ASU's a capella group), and Lost and Found (ASU's theatre improve comedy troupe) will perform for the audience members.

"The Foundation Board is excited to host an evening filled with great entertainment, good food and a chance to raise scholarship money for San Luis Valley students attending ASU," Bussey said. "It will also be a great opportunity to hear from President David Svaldi for an update on the state of ASU."

The cost of tickets is $75. Corporate tables seating eight are also available. Eighty percent of net proceeds will provide scholarship to students from the San Luis Valley.
