ASC 2008 annual jazz festival is February 1 and 2


The Adams State College Music Department will host its annual Jazz Festival, Friday and Saturday, February 1 and 2.

Featured performers include vocalist and Mahogany Jazz recording artist, Kathy Kosins; Matt Schildt, assistant professor of music, piano; Kenny Michael, drum set; Mel Lockhart, guitar, the ASC Dixieland Combo, the San Luis Valley Big Band, and the ASC Big Band, all under the direction of Dr. Douglas Camp, assistant professor of music.

Kosins is a recording artist on the Mahogany Jazz record label. She will present a solo concert with jazz combo at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 in Leon Memorial Recital Hall.

At noon Saturday, Feb. 2, the ASC Dixieland combo and the SLV Big Band will perform in Richardson Hall Auditorium.

Kosins will present an open rehearsal and clinic with the ASC Big Band at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in Richardson Auditorium. Admission to this event is free and open to anyone who would like to learn more about singing and performing the jazz standards. Kosins will appear again as guest soloist with the ASC Big Band at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in Richardson Hall Auditorium. For more information about Kosins, check out the website,
