ASC Community Partnerships and Natural Power present Green Home Design course

For the third consecutive year, ASC Community Partnerships and Natural Power collaborate to offer a workshop series teaching proper techniques and methods when building an environmentally friendly building. These workshops give participants a firm grasp on the basics of energy efficient home design. The series also provides a good foundation for anyone wanting to enter the green construction industry, anyone interested in making their current home more energy efficient, or who would one day like to build a sustainable home of their own. This class covers a wide variety of topics, including hands-on lessons and home tours in addition to lectures, giving students a practical education on building their home.

This course will cover topics such as use of solar energy, conservation of energy and water, straw bale and adobe housing, and retrofitting an existing home among many others. The class is available to community members and current Adams State College students, who may register through the college for Green Home Design, ID 179, CRN 13153. Community members may register for the class, without college credit, by contacting Karl Jolliff at 719-587-8209, or

Community members can take the course as a whole for the discounted price of $275.00, saving $100, or may take the classes individually. Individual courses will cost $35.00 for each lecture or $60.00 for each hands-on lesson and home tour. Classes will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., every other Saturday, beginning January 22, with a break in March for spring break.
