Severe weather alert for Alamosa
Adams State University will operate on a regular schedule Friday, Jan. 11, with all offices open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Students and staff are advised to monitor weather conditions and plan travel to campus with safety in mind. Any campus closure or delayed start will be posted on this website and announced on local radio stations.
Alamosa and the San Luis Valley have been experiencing severely cold temperatures and has been named the coldest place in the lower 48 states several times over the past weeks. The low temperatures have been ranging between -30 to -10 during the night and early morning hours and warming up to 5 to 20 degrees during the day. The temperatures are expected to remain in the below zero range (again -38 to -25 at night) for the foreseeable future.
Due to these conditions, students returning to campus for the spring semester are reminded to bring appropriate winter clothing: a warm coat, winter hat, gloves, scarf, boots, etc. Winterization of cars is also advised.
