Merit Scholarships available for transfer and continuing students

Adams State College transfer and continuing students are eligible for Merit Scholarships, starting in fall 2011. These scholarships are awarded automatically to qualified undergraduate students. No application is necessary.

All award amounts are given for the regular academic year and are divided evenly between the fall and spring semesters. You must enroll full-time in order to receive these awards. Full-Time enrollment cannot include Extended Studies or graduate level coursework.

All transfer students who have completed at least 24 hours at another institution and had a cumulative GPA of the appropriate level will be eligible for the same scholarships as continuing students. Awards for transfer students will be made on June 1 of each year. However, students who transfer into Adams State in January and meet the scholarship requirements will be eligible to receive 50 percent of the scholarship amount to be applied in the spring semester. Transfer students with less than 24 hours will be reviewed as first-year students.

Merit scholarship for continuing students will be made each May to continuing students based on their academic standing at that time. A student must have completed a total of at least 24 hours in the previous fall and spring semesters to be eligible for the award. Summer semester does not count toward the 24. A student can continue to receive these awards for up to three years.

Students must be enrolled full-time, 12 credit hours, on campus to receive the scholarship. Funding for the Merit Scholarship is provided through the Adams State capital fee, based on a stipulation that 20 percent of all capital fee revenues be returned to students in the form of scholarships.
