Music Department hosts "Day of Brass"


High school brass players and the general public are invited to a "Day of Brass" featuring workshops and concerts, on Saturday, April 7th in Leon Auditorium at Adams State College.


  • 1 p.m. faculty recital featuring Marc Reed, trumpet professor at Ft. Lewis College and Jamie VanValkenburg, low brass professor at Adams State
  • 2 p.m. tuba recital by guest artist Tom McCaslin, professor of Tuba/Euphonium at East Carolina University
  • 3 p.m. Masterclass by McCaslin
  • 4 p.m. recital by Marcel Marchetti, trumpet player with the USAF Academy Band and Adams State trumpet instructor
  • 7:30 p.m. concert featuring ASC brass choir and Dixieland Band.

Area high school brass players are invited to perform with the ASC brass choir during the evening concert. Interested students should call 719-587-7702 for information. Afternoon recitals and masterclass are free and open to the public. The evening concert is free to AS&F and Friends of Music, $1 for seniors/students, and $5/adults.
