Earth science students research presented professionally
Kelley Miller, an Adams State College senior, and Dr. Jared Beeton, assistant professor of earth sciences, discuss her work for the third annual Earth Sciences Poster Symposium May 5 in the Student Union Building.
Miller said the symposium prepares her for a career in geoarcheology. "I will have to present posters of my research to persuade people to start a dig."
Miller's and Dan Carver's posters on geomorphology and geoarchaeology research, conducted with Beeton during the summer of 2009, were presented at the Association of American Geographers meeting in Logan, Utah.
Over 14 earth science students presented their research at the Adams State symposium. Other topics included sedimentology and stratigraphy research in the San Luis Valley, and human-environment interactions in mountain ranges around the world.
