Student admits false assault report

As the result of an investigation by the Adams State College Police Department, Jacob Day admitted to falsely reporting he was assaulted Oct. 26 near the intersection of Monterey and El Rio Dr.

Day, a freshman from Alamosa residing on the Adams State campus, said the injuries he sustained were actually from a fight that occurred off-campus.

In a written statement, Day said: "I apologize to the campus community who became fearful because I had reported being assaulted by an unknown person. I want everyone to know that there was no such person, so that our campus residents do not have to live in fear."

Adams State Police Chief Joel Shults noted investigation into the case is ongoing.
