"Turn off the lights," is best way to save energy

Cameron Miller, member of the Adams State College EARTH energy subcommittee, presents Dr. Carol Guerrero-Murphy with a Kill-A-Watt device for her idea to "turn out the lights."

During the spring 2008 EARTH week, the energy committee solicited ideas for conserving energy. "The committee liked Carol's idea best," Miller said. "It is a simple way to save electricity."

The campus currently has a $400,000 electric bill every year. "As a college, I believe it is our duty to lead by example," Guerrero-Murphy said. "We are leaders in helping ourselves and students become better stewards."

The Kill-A-Watt can be plugged into electric appliances and will read how much energy they use.
