Grand opening of Adams State Haynie Media Center is November 10

The Adams State College Department of English, Theatre, and Communications will host the grand opening of the Haynie Media Center at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10. The center is located on the north end of the Student Union Building. Cutting the ribbon will be special guest speaker Nelson Garcia, education reporter for Denver television station KUSA-9.

The center is named after Dr. Brooks Haynie, who passed away in the fall of 2006. He taught communications at Adams State College from 1998 until 2006. "Haynie's warmth and enthusiasm inspired his students to succeed, and his able leadership of the Adams State Communications Program made this facility possible," said Dr. David Mazel, professor of English.

The center will house the Adams State student-run media, including the South Coloradan, newspaper; KASF, radio station, and the SandHill Review, literary and arts magazine.

Refreshments will be served at 2 p.m. and the dedication begins at 2:30 p.m.
