Art prof Eriksen creates logo for Bontrager's Variety Store

Levi Bontrager and his Amish family recently started a new chapter of their lives, establishing Bontrager's Variety Store in Monte Vista, Colorado. The variety store recently had its grand opening and sells a wide variety of items such as tools, work wear, kitchenware, appliances, furniture, gifts, books, sewing supplies, and more.

Because he had heard through word-of-mouth from other Amish community members that they obtained assistance from Adams State University, Bontrager approached Community Partnerships for help with creating his company's logo. Community Partnerships staff member Karl Jolliff discussed Bontrager's needs and connected him with ASU associate professor of art, Roger Eriksen. Eriksen, who teaches graphic art, agreed to donate his time and skills to develop a logo for Bontrager's Variety Store. This logo is a strong fit with the direction the Bontragers are taking with the variety store, and should serve them well for years to come. Eriksen also designed business cards and other marketing materials for the store, to help them market what is soon to be a fixture of the community.

Bontragers Variety Store is now open and presents a professional image within the community. The store is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, and can be found at 9726 S County Rd 3E in Monte Vista.
