Annual Cook-Off announces award recipients
With over 150 ballots counted for each entry and over 20 entries, the 2011 Adams State College Autumn@Adams Fourth Annual Cook-Off was a success. Award recipients include, pictured left to right, Maria Valdez, first place salsa; Rita Paronto, best table award; Ester Lopez, first place red chile; Aaron Borrego, second place red chile; Justin Atencio, first place green chile and third place salsa; Mildred Mondragon, second place salsa; Laurel Heinestra on behalf of the Adams State Model United Nations Club, third place red chile; Jess Gagliardi on behalf of the Adams State Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society, third place salsa; and Adams State President Dave Svaldi, second place green chile.
For the fourth consecutive year, Atencio has been voted best green chile. Svaldi will donate his award money to the San Luis Valley Boys & Girls Club.
