Alumni to be honored at Homecoming

Activities during the 2014 Adams State University Homecoming include fire, jazz, floats, awards, food, golf tees, theatre, and, of course, football.

The Adams State Alumni Association will honor Dr. John Tooker '66 Outstanding Alumnus and Dr. Julian Maendel '07, Exceptional New Alumnus, at the Alumni Homecoming Banquet at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, in the Student Union Building room 131. Tickets are $25 per person and can be reserved by calling Gaylene Horning at 719-587-8110.

Adams State alumni and friends are invited to participate in the golf outing at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Cattails Golf Course and later, starting at 3:30 p.m., the alumni receptions and special reunion group get-togethers will be held in the Student Union Building, second floor.

After the banquet, the Adams State Theatre production, "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" begins at 7:30 p.m. on the Main Stage in the Theater Building. For theater reservations call the Box Office at 719-587-8499. Another option, after the banquet, is to head over to the Alamosa Brew Pub for a Craft Beer and listen to Adams State jazz students perform, beginning at 9 p.m.

If bright stars, a dark night and a hot flame sound appealing, the annual bonfire begins at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, between the baseball and softball fields on the north end of campus.

Saturday, October 11, is off to a running start with the annual 5K, sponsored by Rex Activity Center, call 719-587-7018 to register, or visit Homecoming 5K.

The Homecoming Parade starts at 10 a.m. on Main Street in Alamosa. To receive a parade entry form, or for more information, contact Connor Dowd at 719-587-7948, or visit Parade Sign-Up.

After the parade, is a tailgate party at 11 a.m. on the North Campus Green, cost is $10 per person. This year it is the Grizzlies versus Chadron State College at 1:05 p.m. in Rex Field, cost is $10 per ticket.

Art alumni Milt Priggee '76 and Chuck Asay '67, nationally syndicated political cartoonists, will kick-off Homecoming Week with an opening reception of their "Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey" political cartoons in the Cloyde Snook Gallery. The reception is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3. A lecture precedes the reception at 4 p.m. in the Art Building room 227. The show continues through October 31.
