What our team members have to say

"The climbing team allows me to spend time with other people who push and encourage me to work harder, climb stronger, and have more fun. Each member of the team is as excited to see me do well as they are when they do well."

-Seth Clock

"Being on the Adams state cycling team has been very beneficial to my cycling career, due to the amount of support that Adams provides the team. I KNOW that if it weren't for the resources afforded to me I would not have progressed from a cat5 cyclist never having raced, to becoming the cyclist I am today."

-Mark Johnson

More About Adams State

Our campus is centrally located between the Monarch, Taos, and Wolf Creek Ski Resorts. In addition for our Climbing Team and Mountain Bikers, Penitente Canyon offers world class rock climbing in a natural outdoor setting as well as some of the nations best training trails for mountain biking.

Our top-quality coaching, sports medicine, and training and conditioning staff encourage our athletes to perform to the best of their abilities, both on the field and in the classroom. Resistance training for injury prevention and improved performance is an important part of the ASU athletic experience and is maintained in both in-season and off-season programs.

The Department of Student Life and Recreation has developed programming for athletes to encourage sportsmanship and leadership. Because so many of life’s lessons can be learned through athletic participation, this is a natural place for us to teach our students the importance of integrity, courage, compassion, respect, responsibility, and honesty--the core virtues expressed in our professional programs.
