The core is the basis for all movement that we make during the day. Whether it’s walking, sitting, standing, running, climbing, biking, swimming or skiing, it is impossible to perform any of these activities without our core muscles. Strengthening these muscles can help improve flexibility, posture and athletic performance and help you navigate your world as a more functional mover. This class focuses on developing the deep core muscles in a low impact routine that combines isometric movements with small bursts of cardio and yoga poses. We will also focus on rhythmic movement and breath. This class is for anyone looking to tone, strengthen and increase flexibility throughout their whole body. All abilities are welcome! Come join us for an hour of movement, strength and music!

Slow Flow Yoga
Slow Flow Yoga is an alignment-oriented practice that emphasizes alignment and breath while entering, holding, and leaving yoga postures. It uses postures (asanas) and stretches in combination with the breath while holding the poses to develop flexibility and relaxation. This class encourage proper alignment of the body, often including breathing and meditation techniques to bring balance, strength, and calmness to the body. This class is excellent for students who appreciate longer holds in individual postures and prefer a slower and more meditative approach to practice, while still reaping the benefits of a physical practice.
Step aerobics was introduced into the fitness industry, due to a knee injury, by gymnast Gin Miller. My original certification was from a course taught by Gin Miller. Consequently, the class is taught from an athletic perspective. The course is designed to strengthen the entire body by using hand weights for a portion of the class and then your body weight for the remainder. Because the benches used for step can be adjusted to three different heights, each student can work at their own level. The idea is to simply step up and down from a step height that may vary from 4 inches up to 12 inches. It is not a dance class!
This class will focus on building strength through a variety of modalities. We will mix it up between circuit training, tabata training, weight training, & core exercises. Some days, we will stick with light weight and high reps to build muscular endurance and strength, some days, we will focus on exercises to build power by utilizing explosive muscle movements, but we will hit every muscle group, every time. If you want variety to jump start your week give this one a try!
