Piper has been an assistant instructor in Biodynamic and movement classes for 4 years in Bozeman, MT and has just moved to Alamosa this past fall. She is an avid mountain athlete who runs, skis, and climbs and is currently studying Ceramics and Physical Geography and Conservation. She hopes to live in the mountains of Europe or South America someday and have a huge garden, sheep and chickens. She is also a lover of black tea, border collies, sunflowers, avocado toast and watching the sun rise in the mountains. Her favorite feeling is dancing barefoot in the rain.
Strength Training, Barre, and Turbokick
Christine is a native Texan who moved to Alamosa this January to teach Sociology at Adams State. She is an AFAA and NAFC certified Group Exercise Instructor and has been teaching both pre-choreographed and freestyle Group Fitness classes (including cycle, Kickboxing/Turbokick/BodyCombat, Boot camp, HIIT/HighX/GRIT, Strength/Bodypump, Yoga, Barre/Bootybarre, Bogafit/SUP Yoga, and Pilates/POP Pilates) since 2002 and is also an NASM Certified Personal Trainer. As an avid music lover, Christine loves a beat driven workout, so she tries to incorporate that into her classes as much as possible. Prior to her move to the area, Christine was a trail and ultra runner, so she is looking forward to exploring the beautiful scenery in Alamosa and the surrounding area while bonding with Adams State academia and fit fam.
Zachary received his Bachelor of Science from Western Oregon University with a major in Exercise Science and a minor in Human Biology. He is currently in his last term of graduate school in the Applied Sport Psychology program. He ran collegiately at Western Oregon and is now a coach with Adams State Cross Country and Track programs. At Adams State he is also a Graduate Assistant in the HPPE Department where he teaches undergraduate sport psychology and coaching classes.
Slow Flow Yoga
Brittany received her 200-hour Yoga Alliance registered yoga training in June of 2015 through Yoga Adventure, located in Kona, Hawaii, under Deborah Koehn. This three-week long, hatha- based training has an in-depth focus on asana, pranayama, anatomy, philosophy, meditation, history and the therapeutic application of yoga. Additionally, Brittany did a research project on the benefits of visualization and affirmation in dance and yoga as a component of her training.
In May of 2016, Brittany completed her training to become a Registered Holy Yoga Instructor (R-HYI). Holy Yoga is Christian-based yoga, whose mission is spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth through the modality of yoga. This 95-hour training is heavily alignment based, with focuses on meditation, pranayama, asana, and how to weave The Gospel into classes. In January of 2017, Brittany completed the Kids Holy Yoga training, which certifies her to teach yoga to children ages 4-14.
In addition to her yoga training, Brittany has been dancing since the age of three. She received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance from the University of Wyoming (UW) in December of 2015. While at UW, Brittany took courses in biology, anatomy, and kinesiology, in addition to dancing everyday and performing frequently. During Brittany’s time at UW she learned how to best care for her body’s needs while undergoing rigorous rehearsals and intense coursework loads. Yoga was the best way for Brittany to heal injuries, prevent news ones, and even improve her scoliosis. Her experience and training, as a dancer, gives her an additional understanding of the body and its needs, providing her with unique skills and advice to share with her yoga clients. Lastly, her love of dance and choreography can be seen infused into her asana practice.
Since graduation, Brittany taught yoga and dance, as well as danced professionally in the Denver area. She moved into the valley in August 2017 and is excited for a new adventure!
Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Kenna’s classes are compassionate and engaging. Combining nurturing hands-on assists with powerful cues, she enables her students to go deeper, both in their practices and within themselves. Believing in the infinite potential and mystery in all of us, Kenna’s greatest ambition is to enable her students to access the power and spirit within each and every one of them. Aside from teaching and practicing yoga, Kenna is a Life Coach, Violinist, and Writer. In each of her art forms she seeks to speak the truth. She welcomes and encourages people from all walks of life to join her in the adventure of self-discovery and the magic of Forrest Yoga!
A native of Denver, CO Shelby has a passion for coffee, soccer, dark chocolate, but mostly fitness. In May of 2017, Shelby received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science from Adams State University. Currently she works in the Rex Fitness and Wellness Center as the Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness while also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science. The human performance department at ASU is what triggered her passion for fitness and wellness. Most of her experience comes from working and training at Training for Warriors (TFW). Training those seeking life changes through a gym environment, she learned valuable lessons about how to guide those people through their fitness journey. The TFW system is how Shelby gained the knowledge of how to train people looking to lose fat, build muscle, and just overall, look good.
Chase is a Freshman at Adams State majoring in physical Geography, he is a member of the cycling team and the Adams State Adventure Program. Chase began racing bike competitively first in high school where he competed in the Arizona Interscholastic cycling league, then later moving up to compete in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference. He brings a good base knowledge of cycling skills to his classes that can help any beginner or expert.

When asked, I like to describe myself as an athletic nerd. I am also a recovering triathlete. I have been involved in sport my entire life which is a surprise to many as a current professor of accounting at Adams State University. After high school, I became involved in the fitness industry. I have been certified by ASFA for group fitness and Personal Training. I have been certified by Reebok for Step Aerobics and Johnny G for Spin Classes. I have led fitness classes of all types for nearly 20 years. I took a break while competing in triathlon and completed an Ironman distance triathlon in Canada. I believe staying fit is the fountain of youth. I truly enjoy being in any gym and feeling good! My next goal… learning how to surf!
