The Board of Trustees is the governing authority for the University. The Board establishes policies designed to enable the University to perform its statutory functions in a rational and systematic manner. To assist the Board in meeting its responsibilities, the Board delegates to the President of the University the authority to interpret and administer the Board’s policies in all areas of operations.

It is the policy of the Board to assure substantial administrative authority and autonomy at Adams State, to guarantee a minimum of external involvement in the affairs of the University, and to encourage the development of the distinctive role of the University as it strives to fulfill its mission of achieving academic excellence.

The Board’s policies and procedures, administered by the President of the University and staff, are designed to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability.
