Individual programs are accredited through the National Association of Schools of Music, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

Adams State University is an institutional member of the American Council on Education, the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) the National Association of Schools of Music, the Association of Hispanic Serving Institutions (AHSI), the Hispanic Association of College and Universities (HACU), the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the Rocky Mountain Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (RMACRAO), the Association of American Colleges and Universities, and Quality Matters.
