Presidential Search Email 9-27-22

Dear Adams State Campus Community:

The Adams State University presidential search community concluded its second meeting (hybrid) on Thursday evening, Sept. 22.

Some key points from the meeting:

The committee reaffirmed its commitment to selecting a well-qualified executive search firm to assist in the process. A Request for Proposals (RFP) was submitted through the State of Colorado procurement office on September 15 and, by law, must be posted for 30 days.

It is anticipated the selection of the search firm will be concluded by October 21 and a contract finalized by October 31.

Terms of the RFP state that a final pool of candidates will be delivered to the Board of Trustees for review by March 1, 2023. While there might be some timing issues around holidays and university breaks, we will work with the search firm so interviews and finalist visits will be conducted while the university is in session.

If needed (based on the number of proposals by executive search firms), a subcommittee will be formed to evaluate and rate the firms according to an approved evaluation matrix.

Each member of the committee will play a key role in facilitating listening sessions among faculty/staff/student groups, and community constituents.

Although the executive group of the search committee meets weekly, it was determined by the co-chairs that correspondence regarding those meetings would only need to be communicated upon the group reaching “milestones” during the process.

The presidential search webpage (adams.edu/trustees/presidential-search/) will continue to serve as the primary source of information as it is presented. The webpage will house the meeting notes, agendas, RFP, and other pertinent information.

As co-chairs for this important endeavor, we are thrilled by the enthusiasm from campus and the Valley and the participation by all those involved.

Jonathan Marquez, Co-Chair
