Adams State University alumna and San Luis Valley Native Sonia Perez recently accepted the position of Manager of Retail Development for Ent Credit Union in Alamosa.

She will oversee both the day-to-day operations of the service center and the broader community engagement throughout the San Luis Valley. In this role, she will lead a team focused on building strong relationships both inside the branch and out in the community. She will work closely with local businesses, schools, and organizations to provide financial education, strengthen partnerships, and identify opportunities where Ent can support the needs of the members. It’s a role that blends leadership, strategy, and service all in the community she calls home.

Sonia PerezPerez was the executive director of the Small Business Development Center before moving to the banking industry. “The Adams State School of Business helped me become the leader I was meant to be.”

While settling into her new role at Ent Credit Union, she is also pursuing an MBA with an emphasis in Leadership at Adams State University. “I’m continuing to grow through the same supportive environment. In my role at Ent Credit Union, I apply what I’ve learned every day.”

As a first-generation college student, beating the odds was a big highlight of her time at Adams State. “Walking across that stage on graduation day wasn’t just about completing a degree; it was about breaking barriers and setting an example for my kids. Adams State gave me the opportunity to do that, and I’ll always be grateful,” says Perez.
