Adams State dedicates Hall of Research

Dr. Mark Manzanares, Dr. Chris Gilmer, Dr. Courtney Allen, and President Beverlee J. McClure dedicate the Adams State University Hall of Research on Wednesday, February 1.

The
first floor of Adams State University McDaniel Hall will inspire students and
visitors with posters featuring recent academic accomplishments of faculty and students
from departments across campus. The Hall of Research posters hang in several
areas along the hallway and will be periodically updated with new presentations.

At the dedication ceremony, President Beverlee J. McClure said the Hall of Research reflects the first three goals of the Adams State 2020 Plan: academic excellence, student success and personal and professional development.

Dr. Chris Gilmer, vice president of academic affairs, expressed his appreciation for the idea, saying students with the "heart to learn" are inspired by faculty with the "heart to teach" at Adams State.

When Dr. Courtney Allen, assistant professor of counselor education and Hall of Research coordinator, approached Dr. Mark Manzanares, professor and chair of counselor education, with the idea of creating an area to showcase scholarly work, he recognized the opportunity to show the campus and community "what we are doing as an institution."

Manzanares said he appreciated Allen’s idea, the support of McClure and Gilmer, and the AITC Department for printing the posters.

"We want to promote research and scholarly works by showcasing the outstanding research currently being conducted at Adams State by faculty and students," Allen said. "The idea is to begin conversations that will inspire new ideas and potential research collaborations."
