We’ve been incredibly proud of the efforts by our students, faculty, and staff this semester to follow the COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. Throughout the term we did our very best to mitigate the spread of the virus and are pleased with the efforts.

Given the rapidly growing number of COVID-19 cases in communities across the San

Luis Valley during the months of October and November, and the fact Adams State was being impacted by the growing number of positive cases, we made the difficult decision to shift to Blackboard-only instruction for the remaining 10 days of classes beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11.

We were hopeful of finishing fall semester regular class in-person and then shifting to a Blackboard-only finals week beginning November 30. However, in consultation with academic department chairs, the full academic council, and public health officials, we felt it was in the best interest of our students, faculty, and staff to transition to Blackboard-only instruction a bit earlier than we had planned.

The spring semester at Adams State will begin Jan. 18. We are planning on welcoming back our students for in-person classes then and we will continue to emphasize all the health and safety standards that have become the norm on campus:

  1. Wear Masks at all times on campus and in the community.
  2. Practice 6-feet social distancing.
  3. Frequently wash your hands.
  4. If experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, stay home.
  5. Know your bubble, who’s around you and who you are around.

As we’ve emphasized with our students and employees, you can’t keep a Grizzly down. We’ll be back in January for the second half of the 2020-21 academic year at Adams State.

You can always stay up to date on our COVID-19 measures.
