The Adams State University Teacher Education Department was recently approved as a site to administer Praxis exams. “We are pleased that we will be able to offer a closer option, not only for our students, but others in the region who are in need of this exam,” said Curtis Garcia, ASU Teacher Education Department chair.

These exams are required for teaching licenses in most states and until now, the closest testing site for students in this region was Colorado Springs. “This often put our students at risk, particularly when traveling over the winter months to complete the exam,” Garcia added.

Over 100 ASU students, in teacher education and counselor education take a form of the Praxis each year.

The fall/winter test dates include: September 7, October 26, December 7, January 18, and February 8.

Tests will be administered in Adams State Nielsen Library. Testing fees range from $50 to $200, based on the tests taken. Test takers are eligible for one fee waiver through the testing company – the Educational Testing Service (ETS) – if they can demonstrate financial need.
