Due to the extremely low cases in the San Luis Valley and Alamosa County, and in alignment with current CDC guidance, the Adams State University COVID Response Team is implementing the following changes to ASU’s COVID protocols:

  • Immediate changes, taking effect on Monday, 4/11/22:
    • The vaccination requirement for employees and students will remain in effect, utilizing our current process for uploading vaccination information or exemption forms. However, beginning April 11th, weekly testing will become strongly encouraged, but not mandatory. ASU may revert to mandatory testing for unvaccinated individuals if the trajectory of the pandemic warrants, alongside any future Public Health guidance or orders.
  • Protocols changing or being eliminated after Spring Graduation (after 5/14/22)
    • Indoor masking will remain a choice, and will no longer be required in any classes or performing arts events.
    • ASU’s interim travel procedure will be suspended.
    • Use of the ASU Visitor Form will be suspended.
    • Tracking of campus vaccination rates and positive case counts will be suspended.
    • COVID-related syllabi policies and language will be removed, and reverted back to pre-COVID status (effective for summer semester 2022)
  • Protocols remaining in effect:
    • Students or employees who experience symptoms are strongly encouraged to stay home and seek testing, regardless of vaccination status
    • Students or employees who test positive must follow isolation requirements and other guidance from Public Health
      • Students who test positive should continue coordinating  with their faculty and the Office of Student Affairs for any impacts to their instruction
      • Employees who test positive should continue to coordinate with their supervisor and Human Resources for any impacts to their work schedule and leave situations

The safety of our students and staff continues to remain our highest consideration. ASU will continue to monitor the evolving pandemic and will maintain communication with public health officials. If current conditions or public health guidance change, ASU may revisit and reinstitute protocols as appropriate in response to the situation.
