Adams State welcomes new Chief of Police

Andrew McPherson was formally sworn in as Chief of Police for Adams State University at the university’s Board of Trustees meeting, August 24. He spent the previous six years as Chief of Police at Grayson College, a community college in North Texas, after also serving on the force as an officer.

"The essence of law enforcement in higher education is community service policing. I will be reaching out to the various groups on campus and the diversity programs. I will be an ally to our students," McPherson said. He has experience working with Clery requirements and Title IX investigations.

"It will be a nice change to be at a university with more on-campus residents. I am big on education. Student success is our goal, just like the goal of the university," McPherson said. "We have a lot in the works for National Campus Safety month in September. I’m looking forward to the great things we can do here."
