Adams State will host Special Olympics Bowling Tournament

Come out and show your support to local athletes who will perform in the upcoming Special Olympics Throw a Ball and Watch Them Fall Bowling Tournament. Sponsored by the Adams State University Human Performance and Physical Education (HPPE) Department sports facility and event management class, the event begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the ABC Pro Bowling Alley, located at 2069 1st Street in Alamosa, Colo.

The Special Olympics athletes gear up for this tournament, training their hearts out, and nothing would be better than to show your support as they showcase their hard work. Bowlers competing in the Alamosa tournament are eligible to advance to the regional competition on October 24, in Pueblo, Colo. The Alamosa event is free and open to the public. Donations for the group’s travel expenses will be accepted.

The mission of Special Olympics Colorado is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympic athletes, and the community.
