Adams State will host the Mt. Blanca Summer Music Conservatory

Mt. Blanca Summer Music Conservatory will hold a workshop on the Adams State University campus July 4 through July 10. The Mount Blanca Summer Music Conservatory helps students of all ages and abilities to achieve their musical goals and nurture their passion for music. This program provides its students and the community with exposure to the musical arts through quality music education and the inspiring experience of live performance.

The Mt. Blanca Summer Music Conservatory is a week-long program designed for strings and piano students. This program provides students with a week of intensive personal study and practice, private lessons with a fantastic faculty, collaboration with other young artists through small and large ensembles and education through various workshops and classes. Students will have the opportunity to perform solo and chamber works. Students may also choose to compete to perform a solo in the Honors Recital. Students will be inspired and motivated by attending live performances including a faculty concert held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, in the Adams State Leon Memorial Hall.

Various workshops such as Movement and Music, Effective and Efficient Practice, Rhythm, Music History, Music Theory, Improvisation and Fiddle give students a well-rounded and complete learning experience. In addition, this program offers the opportunity for students to request what workshop topics they would find most beneficial in order to provide the best experience possible. Students will also get to enjoy exciting non-musical activities such as a trip to the Great Sand Dunes National Park or a movie night.

Students 10 years old through sixth grade must be accompanied by a parent/guardian if staying in the Adams State dorm. Students seventh grade and up do not need a chaperone.

The application deadline is May 31 and a late application date of June 6. Applications can be found online at Mt. Blanca Summer Music Conservatory. Questions regarding the conservatory can be directed to sarahoff@mtblancamusicconservatory.com.
