ASU Choir Concert recognizes anniversary of Lincoln’s assassination

The Adams State University Chamber and Concert Choirs will perform a special concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the Sacred Heart Church, located in Alamosa, Colo. The concert will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

This performance will include 1865 for chorus and trumpet, based on the words of Lincoln’s second inaugural address, by Colorado composer, Ruth Coberly, and Heavenly Home: Three American Songs, by Shawn Kirchner. In addition, the choirs will be performing early American hymns, folk songs and spirituals, as well as works based on texts by the Civil War poet, Walt Whitman.
