ASU Police seek hit and run vehicle

The Adams State University Police Department is seeking information about a car and driver who fled the scene of an accident on August 21, according to Paul Grohowski, ASU Chief of Police. He said the vehicle is believed to be a sunburst orange colored Chevy Cobalt or Pontiac G5.

"At approximately 3:19 p.m. on August 21, a vehicle traveling northbound on Monterrey Avenue from First Street crossed the center line and drove up and onto the sidewalk in front of Adams State University. It struck and injured two female pedestrians, a freshman at ASU and her mother," Grohowski added. "The force of the impact separated the driver’s side mirror from the vehicle. ASUPD has the mirror housing in evidence; its paint code and color (Sunburst Orange) was used exclusively on late model GM vehicles."

Anyone with information leading to the identification of the driver and vehicle is asked to contact the ASUPD at (719) 587-7901 or the San Luis Valley Crime Stoppers at (719) 589-4111. A reward may be available through the San Luis Valley Crime Stoppers.
