Bennet Announces $425,000 Federal Grant for Adams State University’s College Assistance Migrant Program

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet announced today that the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at Adams State University in Alamosa was awarded renewed funding by the U.S. Department of Education. The $425,000 grant will help students from migrant families who might not otherwise be able to attend college, including providing housing scholarships and fostering small-group environments to support students as they progress toward graduation.

“As the first Hispanic Serving Institution in Colorado, Adams State University has a long and proud history of serving rural migrant students. Many students in this program will go on to be the first college graduates in their families,” said Bennet. “This grant will go a long way in helping the CAMP program continue to provide a tremendous service to potential students in Southern Colorado and the Southwest.”

Adams State University’s CAMP offers academic, social, and financial support to migrant students and their families, providing assistance with integration into campus life, academic planning and skills development, and career and leadership development.
