Learning Tree Project provides free trees to ASU Community Partnerships

Colorado State Forest Service tree with self-contained watering system.

The Colorado State Forest Service’s Project Learning Tree collaboration recently provided free trees to Adams State University’s Community Partnerships. Project Learning Tree advances environmental literacy and promotes stewardship through excellence in environmental education, professional development, and curriculum resources that use trees and forests as windows on the world. Trees were distributed all over the San Luis Valley, from Rio Grande County to Conejos County to Saguache County.

The effort was combined with S.E.E.D. Park’s testing of a self-contained watering system for trees being monitored by Adams State students. The watering system is designed to provide steady moisture for trees to survive drought conditions, while conserving water through evaporation reduction.
