The NFL has been one of the most successful enterprises in recent history, and the Super Bowl accounts for 18 of the 20 most watched television shows in history. The Adams State University Faculty Lecture American Colossus: the NFL and American Culture, by Dr. Richard Loosbrock, professor of history, begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Porter Hall room 130.
Despite a recent downturn in ratings, the NFL still represents one of the most pervasive forms of entertainment. What does this tell us about the United States? From the roles of Catholics in America to the current Trump movement, this lecture will examine how an understanding of the NFL can help explain the country today.
