As the spring beckons the budding of flowers and trees, Adams State University is pleased to introduce a budding new class of professionals at the Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremony. Adams State will award 225 bachelor degrees beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, in Plachy Hall. U.S. Hall of Fame running coach Joe I. Vigil, Ph.D., will deliver the commencement address.

Psychology major Jessica Moorman will address the audience on behalf of her classmates. She says the support of the University and community inspired her personally and academically. “Adams State staff and faculty have made me feel valued and wanted as an attending student. This helped me stay motivated in my studies, and kept me involved within the community that extended so much kindness during my years as a student.”

After graduating, Moorman will pursue her passion for helping people, with a goal of eventually entering the legal profession. A Sangre de Cristo High School graduate, Moorman worked as a youth coach counselor at the Sage Youth Center from June through November 2018. A member of Student Support Services herself, she also worked with the Upward Bound Program, tutoring high school students.

Cleave Simpson, chair of the Adams State Board of Trustees, will convey the greetings from the board. Adams State music graduate Sarah Knight, accompanied by Professor of Music William Lipke, D.M.A., will lead the singing of the Alma Mater.

Family and friends unable to physically attend the commencement ceremony can stream the program live on their device from the Adams State Facebook Page, facebook.com/adamsstate. Those attending can use the Adams State Commencement Snapchat filter and share on Instagram.
