The Nature of Flow is next Faculty Lecture

Flow is a desirable state of concentrated focus, complete absorption, energy, and high performance. The next Adams State University Faculty Lecture The Nature of Flow, by Dr. Jeffrey Elison, professor of psychology, begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, in McDaniel Hall room 101.

This lecture will summarize a wide variety of findings regarding: a) the conditions that promote or hinder flow; b) individual differences in propensity to experience flow; c) the emotional time-course of flow. These findings among rock climbers are consistent with the literature and thus are relevant to flow in other contexts.

All ASU Faculty Lectures in the series are free and open to the public. Complimentary light refreshments will be offered. For further information on the series of lectures, contact Dr. Courtney Allen, assistant professor of counselor education, at 719-587-7888 or courtneyallen@adams.edu.
