Sport has become one of the largest and most profitable industries in the world which continues to grow with consumer demand. From local youth sports to collegiate athletics and professional sports, the sport industry continues to grow to a multi-billion-dollar industry. Sport Organizations search for qualified professionals who have the passion and work ethic to work in a fast-paced environment. The sport industry includes sport management, event management, ticket sales and sponsorship, licensing and naming rights, media relations, retail management, sport law, risk management etc. An individual pursuing a career in sport may have many opportunities available, but these positions are highly competitive.

Our Sport & Recreation Management undergraduate program and Sport Administration program prepares students for careers in the sports industry. Our undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science Degree and offers students the opportunity to tailor their education to their specific career path whether it is in local parks & recreation, athletics, fitness management or professional sports. Students in the Sport & Management program may complete the degree in 4 years and also add a minor to add diversity to their education. Minors may include fitness management, coaching, marketing, or management.

The 5-year B.S./M.S. helps exceptional Adams State students get a head start in their career in sports business or athletic administration. The program provides a solid foundation for students to launch a successful career in the sports industry. The curriculum allows students several options so they can customize their degree to the area in business most relevant to their career goals.

The B.S./M.S. provides a seamless transition from an undergraduate program to the graduate program, allowing students to cultivate and strengthen their sport business expertise and maintain the M.S. Sport Administration degree that is sought after in today’s highly competitive sport industry. The B.S./M.S. program is ideal for those who want to fast-track their careers while building sustainable skills with innovative and interactive curricula.

The MS Sport Administration degree is a 100% online program geared to prepare students looking to pursue a career in high school sports, collegiate sports, Olympic sports, professional sports, parks and recreation, private companies, or sport organizations.

The Sport Administration program at Adams State University is a 36-credit degree program focused to prepare students who wish to begin or enhance their career in sports. The traditional track is for students to take 6 credits per semester including summers with completion in 2 years. Many of our students in the program plan to work at some capacity in sport with future plans in an administrative role at the high school, collegiate or professional level. Students may choose the Capstone track or the Theiss track. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared for job opportunities in sport event management, sport sales and promotion, sport marketing, and athletic administration. Students in the program will develop a network with professionals in the industry through the (GSA) Grizzly Sports Alliance, WorkInSports and Teamworkonline. Students may also have the opportunity to attend Sport Management and Sport Marketing conferences and other networking events to connect with professionals in the industry. Alumni from the Master’s program currently work in various professional fields in interscholastic athletics, collegiate athletics, professional sports, USA Olympics, NFL, NBA, NCAA, Minor Leagues, YMCA, 24-Hour Fitness, LifeTime Fitness and many others.
