Adams State psychology students present at annual conference

.Adams State University students are offered several opportunities to conduct research in their chosen fields and present their findings at professional conferences. Psychology majors participated in the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association Conference (RMPA) and Students Scholar Days (SSD) during the month of April. Two groups of students won awards at SSD, including first place poster: Christian Corah and Libby Weeks; and third place abstract: Christian Corah, Terrell Russell, and Isaac Serrano.

The Psychology Department sent 16 students to RMPA and three faculty members, including professors of psychology Leslie Alvarez, Ph.D., and Jeff Elison, Ph.D.; and Rena Kirkland, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology. There were 10 student presentations and posters at the conference covering several topics including, “Privileged Pioneers of Psychology: Who makes history (and who doesn’t)?” presentation; “Correlational relations between emerging adult adjustment and the Family Circumplex Model” poster; “Development of Instrument to Measure Deliberate Practice of Study Strategies” poster; and “Assessing Outcomes of Video-Games Using Personality and Video-Game Characteristics” paper.

Seven psychology students participated in the ASU Annual Student Scholar Days.
