The conference included information about becoming leaders at an institution like Adams State and connecting with colleagues across the region.

“We are pleased to receive this national recognition for our work in preparing high quality elementary teachers,” said School of Education Director Curtis Garcia, Ph.D.

It was during an art exhibition at the SLV Health ARTrium in 2022 that Riccatone noted the specialness in middle school art.

“They gave us autonomy to make decisions and run the department. I know how to manage my crew constructively, because I held these various positions in college.”

“Over time, I found what I was passionate about and surrounded myself with people who believed in me, and slowly, I started to believe in myself too.”

“Education has always been important in our family,” said Brown, who teaches in a remote Alaskan village while pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership.

“Four former Adams State graduates are making significant strides in the profession and have worked their way up the coaching ranks at the highest levels of college football.”
