Courses with prerequisites

Entrance to MATH 150 from MATH 095 or MATH 097 requires:

1. Successful completion of a minimum 24 hours at Adams State with C- or higher AND

2. A minimum cumulative GPA at Adams State of 2.25 AND

3. ENG 102 minimum grade C-

Alternatively

A student can enter MATH 150 upon successful completion of MATH 099

Important

MATH 205, BUS 318, PSYC 211, or SOC 311 are required for a lot of degree plans, all of which require MATH 099 or higher

Note: Any major or course listing PHYS 226 as a requirement inherently requires MATH 107

Programs with mathematics requirements

  • Biology: Several Biology courses have Math 099 as a prerequisite, including Biology 205; Math 205 is recommended for some Biology courses, and is required or recommended to all Biology majors
  • Business: Math 099 or higher required for Bus 318, Math 104 strongly recommended
  • Chemistry: Math 107 is the minimum required for any chemistry major, some majors required to take Math 120, 121, and 321
  • Computer Science: Math 120, 121, 250, and 321 are required
  • Earth Sciences: Either Math 106, or Math 106 and Math 107 are required and perhaps Math 205
  • Education: Math 104 or higher required for admission
  • Kinesiology: Exercise Science should take Math 106 and 107, Other Kinesiology majors should consult their advisor
  • Information Technology: Math 106, 107, or 120 required (120 recommended)
  • Nursing: Math 104, 106, or 120 required
  • Sociology: Math 106 recommended

Suggestions

  • Any business major should take Math 104
  • Any science major should take at least Math 106, if not Math 107 and Math 120 as well
  • Any social science major should consult their advisor
  • Any fine art major should take Math 150
  • Any mathematics major should take Math 120 (or Math 107 or Math 106 in preparation for Math 120)
  • Elementary Education – Mathematics Emphasis majors are required to take two of Math 106, 107, 120, and 121 (and should consult Math Department chair)
