Colorado became a national leader in industrial hemp cultivation and production when it launched one of the first successful pilot hemp programs in the United States five years ago.

“There is an abundance of positive issues to highlight,” said Trustee Cleave Simpson, who leads the board’s audit and finance committee.

Once he found his niche studying animals in the biology department, Padilla kept excelling, earning the Veryl Keen Outstanding Biology Student Award in 2010-11.

Nearly 15 years into his career, Wendelin still thinks about the lessons he gleaned from professors at Adams State.

Passage of Proposition CC means all money retained under the proposition must be spent in three areas: higher education; public schools; and roads, bridges and transit.

“The fact Adams State serves a greater proportion of students whose families historically have not attended college or have had access to a college degree means Adams State is changing and transforming lives,” said Adams State President Cheryl D. Lovell.

“I owe a lot of my successes to Adams State and hope I can give back by serving on the Board of Trustees,” Marquez said.

“My professors already know me by my first name, and I really like that,” said Haile, who is majoring in business administration.
