Through the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative Adams State University partnered with Costilla County and Trinidad State Junior College Educational Foundation to provide scholarships for five students from Costilla County.

Water, water, water – there is seldom enough in this dry Valley. And demands on the scarce supply remain strong and growing. At the same time, there are many community-based efforts working to restore a better balance.

“Through scholarships, grants, and community initiatives, the Foundation provides additional opportunities to those giving back to the place we call home.”

“It can be a game changer for our students as well as for the institution,” Schroeder says.

“Without a doubt, if Adams State and TSJC weren’t here, it would be a huge negative impact on the Valley,” said ASU Associate Professor of Marketing Liz Thomas Hensley, Ph.D.

“So the win for the university is a coffee shop and the win for the students is if everyone purchases coffee at the shop, after all the bills are paid, any revenue left over will go to helping the students.”

The refinance will add only one year onto the debt payments.

Adams State will offer courses in Microsoft Excel and Customer Service as part of its professional education career development course offerings.

Along with sharing food and drink provided by Sodexo Catering, the Adams State community participated in an ugly sweater contest.
