Psychology Intern – Open

The Psychology department at Adams State University is looking for self-motivated psychology undergraduates for a research internship opportunity for the Fall 2025 semester. This position will involve the study of political polarization through data collection, data analysis, and research writing. Students who are intrinsically curious and motivated to study the topic are encouraged to apply.

Academic credit/course number: PSYC 379; 1 credit hour

Specific tasks: weekly data collection from first-hand engagement with ASU students, using statistical software to analyze data as well as qualitatively interpret interviews, writing up of research for professional purposes (e.g. academic journal submissions, conference presentations), and discussion with other student researchers and the overseeing faculty.

Qualifications: Psychology major at ASU, completed PSYC 355 (Research Methods), an intrinsic curiosity about the subject of political polarization, a proactive drive to conduct research, a teachable attitude

Supervision: Weekly meetings with a Psychology Faculty member who will be the Student Employment Supervisor. These weekly meetings will be used to discuss progress with the research. Expected Learning Outcomes: Student research interns will learn how to conduct first-hand psychology research themselves in many ways (possibly both quantitative and qualitative research).

They will learn how to navigate professional relationships with other academics as well as how to engage in research professionally with participants of diverse backgrounds.
