You must enroll full time in order to receive these offers. Full-time enrollment may include online or undergraduate level coursework (see Adams State Scholarship Policy).

Merit Scholarships

We automatically offer renewable merit scholarships to our undergraduate students enrolled in on-campus classes. Scholarships are offered to first-time students based on weighted or unweighted high school GPA on a 4.0 scale and to transfer students based on transfer cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale from all institutions attended.

President’s Scholarship – $3,000/year

  • Incoming first-time students: minimum weighted GPA 3.90
  • Continuing students: minimum cumulative GPA 3.90

Vice President’s Scholarship – $1,000/year

  • Incoming first-time students: weighted GPA 3.25 to 3.89  
  • Continuing students: minimum cumulative GPA 3.25 to 3.89

Experience Colorado Scholarship

Offered to all non-resident and international students (WUE and NM reciprocal students excluded). Valued at $5,000 for the academic year, it is renewed annually as long as the student maintains Satisfactory Academic Progress and is enrolled full time. Arizona and California Resident Scholarship

$2,000 annual scholarship for Arizona and California residents who are unconditionally admitted starting Fall 2019. AZ/CA residents are also WUE residents who pay the WUE tuition rate. It is renewed annually as long as the student maintains Satisfactory Academic Progress and is enrolled full time.

Valedictorian Scholarship

All first-year students who were valedictorians or ranked first in their class, as documented on their final high school transcript, will receive an additional $1,000.

Junior and Senior Room Waivers

Students who live in the dorms or apartments as juniors and seniors are eligible for a room waiver. Juniors will receive $500 per semester and seniors, $700. Faculty Drive apartments are not eligible at this time. Students who indicate that they will live on campus on their FAFSA will be processed automatically.

Grizzly Partner Scholarship

Offered at admission to students from Alamosa, Archuleta, Chaffee, Conejos, Costilla, Huerfano, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache Counties in Colorado, as well as Taos and Rio Arriba Counties in New Mexico.

This offer, valued at up to $3,200 per year ($1,000 for tuition, $1,100 for room and $1,100 for board), is for full-time freshmen and sophomores and requires recipients to live on campus. Students who indicate that they will live on campus on their FAFSA will be processed automatically.

The offer for students who live in an apartment without a meal plan is $2,000 per year ($500 for tuition and $500 for room per semester).

Juniors, seniors and Faculty-Drive residents are not eligible for this offer.

SLV Promise

Adams State University prides itself in serving students from its hometown of Alamosa and the surrounding San Luis Valley. To assist those students, as well as students from across southern Colorado, Adams State guarantees need-based grants to qualified Pell grant, Colorado resident, students to cover the normally assessed tuition and fees. To qualify during the 2023-24 academic year, students must complete a FAFSA and all requirements and enroll full-time on campus by July 31, 2023.

Students from the following counties are included in the SLV Promise: Alamosa, Archuleta, Baca, Bent, Chaffee, Conejos, Costilla, Huerfano, Las Animas, Mineral, Otero, Prowers, Rio Grande and Saguache.
