The Office of Community and Global Impact at Adams State University is leading and supporting actions that transforms our campus into an exemplar model for fair access and opportunity for all students and employees equipping them with the preparedness to engage and thrive in their learning, leadership, and service within the communities they are part of at the local, state, national, and global level.

Through a collective and collaborative approach, we are committed to intentionally and effectively serving our students and employees while fulfilling Adams State’s purpose, vision, and values. Perspective: An understanding of the intersecting perspectives that define our university’s resilience, grit, strength, and innovation from being a low-income, first-generation, and Hispanic-serving, rural anchor university and commitment to intentionally supporting individuals who possess these characteristics

• Educational Workshops for Professional Practice and Growth: Expand campus-wide, voluntary interactive learning experiences designed to enhance professional skill and practice led by trained facilitators, combine practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in the Adams State workplace, classroom, and in a global professional environment

• Employee and Student Wellness & Wellbeing: Support the physical, mental, emotional,
and social health of Adams State employees and students
• Global Experience and Exchange: Facilitate global educational and professional exchanges, cross-cultural experiences, and international collaboration for Adams State students and employees
• Spanish Language Services: Provide comprehensive linguistic support and communication assistance to ensure effective interaction between Spanish-speaking individuals and Adams State personnel
• Policy Review and Development: Systematic process of creating, evaluating, updating, and implementing (non-academic) Adams State policies to ensure they remain effective, compliant, and aligned with institutional goals and legal requirements
• Student Parenting Support: Resources and services to help student parents balance their educational goals with childcare responsibilities, addressing the unique challenges faced by students raising children
• Dating, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, & Stalking Victims Advocacy Services: Provide comprehensive support, resources, and advocacy for Adams State individuals impacted by interpersonal violence and harassment, focusing on safety, healing, and empowerment
• Campus Ministry: Provide spiritual care, religious programming, and faith-based community support for Adams State students and employees of distinct religious backgrounds and spiritual traditions
• Hispanic-Serving Initiatives: Provide specialized programs, resources, and initiatives designed to enhance educational access, success, and cultural affirmation for Adams State employees and students
• First-Gen Initiatives: Provide support, resources, and programming specifically designed to help Adams State first-generation college students—those whose parents did not complete a four-year college degree—navigate Adams State and higher
education successfully
• Non-traditional Student Support: Services and resources for Adams State students who don’t fit the traditional college profile, including adult learners, working students, parents, and those returning to education after extended breaks
• Community Investment in Resources and Programming: Provide comprehensive information, connections, and support services that link Adams State students, faculty, staff, and their families to essential services and opportunities available in the local Alamosa community and surrounding San Luis Valley region
